๐ŸŽ™ I am quoted in Oprah Daily on the topic of positive affirmations.

๐Ÿ’„ I find that "lipstick on the mirror"/toxic positivity self-talk to be unhelpful. These types of statements can indeed make someone feel worse because they don't feel genuine.

๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ One thing that can be helpful is if you can ask yourself, โ€œIf my best friend was struggling, what would I tell them?โ€ Then say to yourself what you would tell them and see if it feels right for you.

๐Ÿ“š Here's another example. Say a person values education and is studying for a particularly difficult exam. They can tell themselves, โ€œStudying for this test feels overwhelming and I will also be one step further to my goals once it's over.โ€ โ€œIโ€™ve done hard things before and I can do this too.โ€

๐ŸŽถ Other ideas are to use your favorite quote, lyrics from a song, or lines from a loved book to use for your affirmations.

โžก๏ธ Itโ€™s all about making genuine affirmations. Donโ€™t force anything.
